DA RULES - Mel needed some help today.

One thing I've learned is the key for eating paleo is being prepared (pre-pepping meals is the #1 thing I need to do every week!). First clean out your fridge and your pantry … Most of us are much more tempted by junk food, when it is around.  If you have any junk food or processed foods– just toss it. I gave all of my stuff to some Marine friends who were stuck in the barracks - they greatly appreciated me feeding them!
Head to the grocery store and fill your fridge with the following items:
Veggies: Lots and lots! Eating paleo requires you to eat tons of veggies - this is where you get most of your carbs from.
Fruit: also a nutritious source of carbs and vitamins. (just don't eat too many!)
Nuts: almonds, macadamia, etc, etc …. Go for raw and unsalted … TJs carries a raw trail mix that I love too! Avoid peanuts, they are actually not nuts, but legumes. If weight loss is your goal, limit yourself to no more than 4 ounces of nuts a day. Nuts are easy to overeat. Also, they are high in Omega-6, & with the paleo diet, we are really trying to balance out the Omega-3/Omega-6 ratio in our diets.
Healthy fats: olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, animal fat found in meat, nuts and seeds.
Beef, Fish, & Poultry: Try to go for organic/grass fed/wild-caught whenever possible. These items are not only better for the environment, but provide you with far more nutrients than conventional products.
Herbs and spices: cumin, oregano, pepper, cinnamon etc.
What you can’t eat – sugar, processed foods, deep fried foods, *dairy, starches, grains, legumes.
Dairy: For these 30 days, I am going to recommend that you cut out all dairy.  There are different schools of thought on this. Some believe that dairy in moderation is acceptable from dairy sources with less lactose, such as yogurt, butter, & full cream. I think it is best to try cutting out dairy completely for a period of time to see how you feel. After 30 days, you can reintroduce things such as yogurt & butter.
All alcohols: The most paleo of alcohols is – Tequila! since it’s made from an agave plant...but for 30 days, go liquor free! If you can’t do it, a small glass of wine.
Caffeine: Tea and coffee are fine. Best not to sweeten them, but if you have to, use honey (raw honey is even better because it has more nutritional value).
So you’re probably thinking what should my daily meals be like? Here is what I eat or recommend.
Breakfast: There are only a couple of things I eat for breakfast - eggs, left-over meat and I add some type of fat (avocado, EVOO, etc.). As far as eggs … you can do so many things with them, make a scramble with whatever veggies you have in the fridge or often, I just eat 2 scrambled eggs with pico de gallo, avocado and fruit.
Lunch: As far as lunch, I always try to make enough for dinner to have leftovers. I’ll make a roast for the week and divvy it up into containers for each day, but I’ll usually make a second meal so that I can alternate. I suggest salad with lots of veggies or spaghetti squash or any type of paleo recipe online…trust me, there are TONS!!

Snacks: Fruit, nuts, sliced raw veggies.

That’s the rules and regs – don’t cheat J
