stick to the PROgram, yO!

1} Paleo is not a diet - it is a way of life. This isn't like some Atkins diet where you proceed for x amount of days and then fall off the bandwagon to only gain the weight back you've lost. Some of you may be thinking what is paleo? Paleo is eating the diet our bodies were designed to eat. Which means eating like hunters and gatherers, with a modern twist. Another way to think about it, is eating a diet full of really clean, healthy whole foods, and avoiding anything questionable (meat, fish, fruit, veggies and nuts).

2} You need to understand why Paleo is good for you and how it can affect your body in a powerful way. We all change our eating habits for different reasons, if it is weight you want to lose, you will definitely do it with this nutrition plan. If it is not weight, but you just want to have more engergy and feel better, this is also the way for you. do you have physical ailments? IBS, Constipation, Joint Pain, Headaches, Fatique , Eczema? Paleo has been known to relieve symptons of these health concerns. If there is anything that feels off about you lately, I urge you to try this out for just one month - 30 days.

Personal achievement so far and I'm on Day #17: my skin has cleared up and I haven't had ANY acne in days, my energy level has increased and how my body recovers after a hard workout has been at a quicker rate.

3} Understand what you need in every meal:
  • Healthy fats: olive oil, canola oil, coconut oil, nuts, avocado, egg yolk
  • Carbs: veggies & fruit
  • Protein: meat, eggs
4} Beat those initial cravings - they will go away. Once they are out of the your system, your body really stops craving them. The first and third weeks are probably the hardest. Keep positive thoughts.

5} USE A JOURNAL. Record your daily food intake. Record the hours you eat each meal and try to stay consistent. Record EVERYTHING. Anything that goes in your mouth, record it. I will upload some pages of my food journal for an example in the next few blogs.
6} After the 30 days you're free to ween off of it or still stick to the program. My guess is, you won't want all the crap food you were eating before as much.

I'm on day 17 right now and eating Paleo has changed the quality of my life so far. My friend, Melanie is starting day 1 tomorrow...I'm here for her as motivation, support and knowledge. We're going to get through this together. Think about it...what's 30 days?

Tomorrow...read the rules!
